The Barclay Rex storefront is a menagerie of tobacco-related supplies and corner office decorations and toys. Bronze desk statues depicting boxing bulls and duck handled shoe horns are on offer amongst more traditional tobacco-inspired regalia. There are more than 200 pipes on display, and house brand tobaccos with names like Diplomat and Hampton Bay. With rolling sessions regularly sponsored by local and international wholesalers and an inviting lounge (at some locations) with leather chairs and an espresso machine, it’s easy to stop by Barclay Rex to pick up a Davidoff for the weekend and wind up smoking it before you leave. Ask one of the store clerks for help and while perusing the walk-in humidor; you might learn that the Rex in Barclay Rex was the original owner’s Great Dane, who used to hang out in the store. — Christopher James Richter
