Profile
This high end shoe boutique specializes in striking pairs from French, Spanish, and Italian designers who play up the details, like dramatic tapered heels, funky t-straps, thick ankle ties, and contrasting swathes of suede and leather. A descendent of three generations of shoemakers, shoe-savvy owner Sandra Canselier doubles as the U.S. representative for Spanish designer Chie Mihara, stocking several pairs of the brand on long wooden shelves alongside pumps from Marcello Toshi, Oxford flats from Terre Peck, Maloles’s tie-back sandals, and linen booties from Tashkent. The most variety, however, comes from the boutique’s covetable in-house line of boots, pumps, and sandals. Although they’re manufactured in Mallorca, new styles are designed twice a year by Brooklynite Lisa Nading (formerly of Gentle Souls), who experiments with lacelike upper cutouts and thick stacked heels. In the back, the store’s pale yellow walls are covered by racks of feminine, loose-fitting floral dresses and silk tunics from Paul & Joe, Ba&sh, and Carolina K., complimented by an assortment of Great by Sandie’s large leather handbags with braided handles and gold vermeil jewelry by Tracy Matthews.
