Profile
Husband-wife bakers and artists Aneta and Jerzy Szot create hand-painted cookies in the likeness of dresses, taxicabs, Mets jerseys, Michael Jackson, and more from their petite specialty shop. They opened the bakery in June 2009, filling a space adjacent to their house formerly belonging to Greenpoint Savings Bank. Jerzy painted the bright-red sign out front in pears, penguins, and Charlie Chaplins, and Aneta bakes all the cookies herself. Seasonal designs are especially popular (like realistic Statue of Libertyshaped cookies for the Fourth of July), as are screen-printed and sugar-painted celebrity cookies resembling Marilyn Monroe, Liza Minnelli, and the Beatles. The bakeshop also offers non-painted cookies, like Rocky Road and English toffee, as well as mini-lemon cheesecakes, key lime tarts, hazelnut orange biscotti, almond macaroons, and browniesall artfully presented on Andy Warholinspired dishes. Beverages are equally gourmet, including Counter Culture Coffee, Golden Moon Tea, and funky iced-tea flavors like coconut and vanilla mint.
