Profile

This venue is closed.

Formerly the all-pink setting of feminine jewelry shop Boucher, this 200-square-foot West Village storefront now holds a very different kind of bauble. Philip Crangi, whose modern gold and steel designs are also stocked at Bergdorf Goodman, opened this stand-alone store in October 2009 to showcase his Giles & Brother line and higher-end Philip Crangi collection. He and his sister/business partner Courtney Crangi modeled the space after his Chelsea studio, with a black tin ceiling and hunter green upholstered walls covered with mirrors and hammered bronze flowers. A glass case in the center displays the Philip Crangi collection, which consists of vintage-inspired nautical- and equestrian-themed jewelry for men and women. Railroad spike cuffs and rings (formed from a single engraved, curving spike) are popular, as are tiniesthin chains strung with impossibly small charms such as keys or anchors. Wall shelves are filled with Crangi’s customary metalwork, subtly studded leatherwork, oversize African beaded pieces, and other creations exclusive to the store. The spot also stocks incense holders, trays, and a small collection of artistic vintage books. The bearded designer himself can often be spotted at the shop, and, as the name implies, the venture is a family affair: In addition to having help from his sister and dad, Crangi’s sister-in-law oversees day-to-day business.

Wedding Rings

Philip Crangi’s on-trend creations are a hit with downtown brides (and grooms). Gold bands start at $500; thicker twist rings run in the low $1,000s.
