Profile
It’s never too soon to groom your progeny for Horace Mann. At least, that seems to be the philosophy of Crewcuts, a nook in the J.Crew store that outfits young ladies and gentlemen from ages 2 to 10. Miniature cashmere sweaters and scarves are displayed between stacks of vintage schoolbooks, while petite classic Wellingtons line up under the tables. Parents with honor rolls on their minds have been known to pair the Sherpa-lined hoodie with the pleated wool skirt, or the herringbone blazer with a similarly patterned vest. (So far, the child-size pipe and monocle that would complete the look aren’t offered.) There are plenty of conventional kid classics, too: colorful T-shirts, puffer jackets, and jeans. The boys’ broken-in cargo pants are described as being just like his dad’s, only smaller. But with children this dapper, Dad just might need a new wardrobe.
