When Stephanie Pappas closed down her Mulberry Street boutique, Eva, in August 2008, she thought it was the end of her retail days. But after a few weeks of vacation, Pappas realized she missed scouting and supporting emerging designers. So she set out to find a new space: Eva (part 2)�a former deli on Bowery�threw its doors open in March 2009. Designed to complement her minimalist aesthetic, the boutique is modern and sleek, with black-lacquered floors and stark-white walls. It also doubles as a rotating gallery, showcasing the work of artists and photographers like Cecilia Jurado. The stock is similar to the old space, with an emphasis on avant-garde and independent designers. Billowy graphic-print dresses by C. Neeon and oversize, fringed scarves by Henrik Vibskov hang beside playful organic-cotton separates by Samantha Pleet and tailored staples from Rodebjer. Eva also carries downtown favorites such as jewelry by Pamela Love and denim by Burfitt. Exclusive to the store are necklaces by Saltalamacchia, a line co-designed by owner Pappas, which mixes hanging chains with yarn and horsehair to create unique statement pieces. — Diana Tsui
