After seeing local kids trek all the way to Soho to buy their skateboards and skate gear, Harlem residents Bahr Brown and Tone McRae decided to set up shop in their own hood. Everything Must Go sits on the same block as Patsy’s pizza in Spanish Harlem and saves local skaters time and money by serving up the standard skate-shop goodies: affordable decks and vibrantly colored sneakers and T-shirts. Decks by Mike Wright (of I Skate NY fame), Baker, Certified, DGK, and Shut hang on the black back wall. Also on hand are wheels, trucks, stickers, incense, and hard-to-come-by dancehall Studio One CDs. Divided by color, tees by Stussy, DGK, 10-Deep, and Coup de Grace fill the racks, while the shoe selection is smallfeaturing only the cult brand Clae. It is perhaps New York graffiti queen Claw Money that gets the most play. Her canvases grace the walls (alongside a large Notorious B.I.G. poster), her flashy unisex sunglasses in bright colors with gold accents get their own glass case, and her fitted T-shirts and racer-back tanks cater to the ladies.
