Profile
Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but thanks to Carrie Bradshaw and the stilettos sirens of Sex and the City, shoes run a close second as a fashion-forward woman's coveted, comely comrades. And among a girl's high-heeled pals, few hold such pride of place (and closet space) as her Jimmy Choos. The New York's flagship on the Upper East Side is decorated in beige, silver, and dusty lavender, like a 21st century update of Mae West's art-deco boudoir. Full-length mirrors create focal points, the better to see yourself from artfully highlighted head to peek-a-boo toe. The shoes themselves, of course, are the main attraction (though the brand also offers handbags, clutches, satchels and smaller leather goods), with limo-friendly footwear designed to turn heads. The four yearly collectionsfall/winter, spring/summer, pre-fall, and resortrepresent a nice breadth of footwear, most but not all of it teeteringly tall. Choo's gravity-defying strappy sandals may be the most recognizable, but the store does a fairly equal business in leather and suede boots, flats, flip-flops, mules and pumps. Colors change seasonally, with the resort collection generally coming in as the brightest of the bunch.
SalesSeasonal, semi-annual sales in December and June.
