Profile
If individuality is teetering on the brink of extinction, Creel & Gow may be one of its last purveyors. This shop is a haven for home decorators on the hunt for one-of-a-kind accessories, not to mention for Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus buyers who stock R&G’s signature silver-dipped shells. Co-owner Christopher Gow refers to his collection as his treasure trove of natural curiosities, and rightly sothe former Sotheby’s sculpture expert scours the globe for these eccentric decorative touches: trays accented with iridescent butterfly wings (from Brazil), a narwhal tusk (from an arctic whale), and armor-like jewelry (from the Maio tribe in China). Admittedly, the goods are not for the faint of wallet, but if you’re buying a small slice of natural history, you can’t expect to get Pottery Barn prices.
