Most people have a hard time separating Sisley from its more colorful parent company United Colors of Benetton, and there’s a good reason�the stores tend to sprout up in pairs. At the flagship in the Time Warner Center, the Italian clothier stands only a few shops away from a Benetton and is directly attached to the their children’s brand, Sisley Young (sizes infant to ten years old). Benetton’s sexier sister isn’t always on top of trend, but it’s a good option for basic, dark work pieces with a distinguishing edge. A steady stream of mall rats and tourists scour the racks to a soundtrack straight out of a European nightclub. There’s not a primary color in sight: grays, blacks, plums and other muted tones are the standard for both men and women. Styles lean towards dressy, from pants suits to silky camisole tops to wrap dresses, all cut closely and slightly more fitted than Benetton’s line. The basic, narrow shop has six spacious dressing rooms, and also carries a limited selection of shoes, bags, belts and hats. A smaller selection of Sisley clothing is also available at two Manhattan Benetton stores, on Fifth Ave. at 19th St. and Fifth Ave. at 49th St. — Chrissy Persico
