Urte Tylaite’s small East Village shop sells a variety of unique household and personal accessories, including jewelry, photographs, handmade postcards, vases, and plants. Tylaite and Silva/Bradshaw, a local design and art studio, collaborated on the store’s interior, which makes efficient use of the narrow space without leaving it feeling cluttered or overly stylized. The white walls are lined with simple bookshelves that hold the majority of the store’s goods, while plain wooden tabletops also sit in the store’s center displaying wares. There are nylon rings, pyramid display cases, necklaces made with geometric beads, and handblown glass vases�many of the items are made or designed locally, but others come from as far as Scandinavia and Japan. — Taylor Berman
