Sculptural shoe brand United Nude launched its New York flagship in May 2010, a moodily lit �dark-shop� with shoes displayed in glowing frames around the perimeter of the space. The brand was founded by Dutch architect Rem D Koolhaas (nephew of starchitect Rem Koolhaas, who designed the Prada flagship in New York), resulting in some towering, precariously artsy heels. The collection touts some serious statement pieces, like ankle boots in rainbow swirls, wedges with open-air heels, and multifaceted, gemstonelike pumps. But despite a penchant for high-concept heels, you'll also find an assortment of commute-ready options, like ballet flats in a slew of colors. A gleaming, Batmobile-like Lamborghini serves as a centerpiece, shipped from China and parked in the middle of the store. — Lauren Murrow
