Give to Students in Need With Your Back-to-School Shopping
As July fades into August, families around the country are gearing up to send their kids to school. Shopping carts are filling up with supplies: Fresh pencils, rulers, backpacks and lunchboxes. And, of course, fresh duds. But, according to a recent national survey, 40% of low-income parents worry about their child having basic necessities, such as socks and underwear. This can result in a child’s lack of confidence or embarrassment that leads to absenteeism. In an effort to combat the problem, JCPenney has teamed up with The Y to launch Pair Up. From August 1 to August 15, for each pack of kids’ socks or underwear sold, JCPenney will donate a pack to to the Y to help kids in need—up to 750,000 pairs.
