NFL players take a knee: A timeline

The National Football League agreed to freeze the controversial policy, in which teams would be fined if players didn’t stand during the national anthem. This comes almost two years after former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, first knelt during the anthem to protest racial injustice in America.
