One of the nation’s last manually operated bridges will soon be modernized

There’s something special about the old bridge to Maine’s Barters Island: its pivot is powered by a person. Its uniqueness makes it a popular attraction for tourists, but the bridge will soon be modernized and operated with the push of a button.
