An IDF investigation into the death of hostage Yossi Sharabi — whose brother Eli is due to be released by Hamas today — found he may have been killed by Israeli strikes on Gaza.

“It is possible that Yossi was killed by the collapse of a building adjacent to an IDF target,” the Israeli military said in a investigation presented to the Sharabi family in February 2024. “However, it cannot be ruled out that he was killed by Hamas.”

The IDF said “lessons were learned regarding target approval processes,” as a result of the investigation.
