Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son Pax Jolie-Pitt was hospitalized Monday following an accident while he was riding an electric bike in Los Angeles, a source close to Jolie confirmed.
The source added that Jolie is "by her son's side" and that he is in "stable condition."
Representatives for Jolie and Pitt did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
TMZ first reported that Jolie-Pitt, 20, was not wearing a helmet when he was riding his e-bike Monday afternoon.
Los Angeles Police Officer David Cuellar told NBC News on Tuesday that there was a traffic collision at Los Feliz and Hobart boulevards but would not confirm the identities of the parties involved.
"A vehicle was waiting at a red light, and an individual on an electric bike rear-ended the vehicle. There is no evidence of a crime, and we ended up taking a severe traffic report," he said.
Pax is one of six children of Pitt and Jolie, who are in a divorce battle. The couple split in 2016 and Jolie filed for divorce, accusing Pitt of choking one of their children on a volatile trans-Atlantic flight. NBC News obtained the FBI report on the incident in 2022 following a Freedom of Information/Privacy Act lawsuit brought by “Jane Doe.”
The Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services investigated Pitt after the alleged incident. NBC News has reported that he was cleared of any wrongdoing, and criminal charges were never brought against him.
Since 2016, the exes have been in a legal battle over their winery, Château Miraval, in the south of France. Pitt sued Jolie, accusing her of having improperly sold her half of the winery to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler. Miraval was the site of their wedding in 2014.
Although the couple’s divorce is still ongoing, in 2019 they were granted a “bifurcated judgment,” meaning they are legally single.
