The family suing Walt Disney Co. over royalties from Winnie the Pooh said Monday it hired Johnnie Cochran, the high-profile celebrity lawyer, to take over the case against Disney.
COCHRAN WILL START immediately, a spokesman for the Slesinger family told Reuters. The Slesingers, who hold the U.S. merchandising rights to the honey-loving bear, accuse Disney in a long-running lawsuit of shortchanging them on royalties.
Disney has denied the charges but has said a loss in the case could cost it hundreds of millions of dollars.
The suit is more than a decade old. Cochran’s entrance is the second major change in lawyers by the Slesingers since the summer.
