The Bakersfield Rescue Mission is getting some help from a local radio station this weekend, which set up camp to collect canned goods.
KLLY 95.2 FM, held its third annual Camp Out for Cans in the Borders bookstore parking lot on Stockdale Highway.
The station has been broadcasting live from the campsite since Friday.
Morning show hosts Darci Dawn and Dean Novak were collecting and sorting canned food Sunday.
They said they've received more than 2,000 pounds of canned goods and they're hoping to collect even more.
"We're going to be out here all day. We've got like 12 hours. We're going to go all night long actually. If you work a strange job, and you have to show up really late, come by, drop it off, anytime, we'll be here," said Darci Dawn, KLLY radio personality.
If you would like to make a contribution, you can drop off your canned goods any time before 9:00 am Monday in the parking lot of the Borders bookstore on Stockdale Highway.
