Gina Rodriguez was just nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Series - Musical or Comedy for her performance as Jane in "Jane the Virgin." The actress was nominated—and won—the same award in the 2015 Golden Globes.
Rodriguez called into TODAY’s Take to talk about her reaction to the nomination: “My best friend was sleeping over at my house to keep me company and she was in the living room listening to it and I just couldn’t bring myself to walk over so I started pouring myself coffee and then they called my name and I pretty much dropped to the kitchen floor and started crying. It was kind of ridiculous and amazing.”
“I’m driving to work right now just so super thankful," added the actress, who is of Puerto Rican descent and was born and raised in Chicago. "I’m going to make sure I work my tush off today just to not make it for nothing,” she added.
Aside from the great news for the actress, there was a lot of flurry on social media about the fact the Golden Globes tweeted out Gina's name instead of America Ferrera's when Ferrera was at the podium during the Golden Globe nominations announcements.
