In light of the Orlando shooting, Marvel Comics writer Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez honored the Puerto Rican victims of the tragedy by depicting his creation, the Puerta Rican superhero "La Borinqueña," holding the Puerto Rican flag in the colors of the rainbow.
She sheds tears for her fallen brothers and sisters; 23 out of the 49 victims of the Orlando Shooting, which took place at Pulse Nightclub, were Puerto Rican.

La Borinqueña was created by Rodriguez to remind Puerto Ricans of their strength and their community amid a serious financial crisis. The powerful and stunning figure is the first officially endorsed superhero of the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York, which took place this past week.

Under La Borinqueña are the words, "Unidos con Orlando" ("United with Orlando").
