Five people are dead after multiple shootings in three homes in Wichita, Kansas.
Just before 6 p.m. Sunday, a 911 call reported a shooting on the 1700 block of Santa Fe South, NBC affiliate KSN of Wichita reported.
Officers found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound, Wichita police said in a statement.
Shortly afterward, officers followed up at another home just over a half-mile away. There, they said, they discovered three additional victims with apparent gunshot wounds, the statement said.
Police then canvassed the neighborhood. An officer looked through the window of another home and discovered what appeared to be another victim in the living room, police said. Police entered and found another man dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
All five victims were men, ages 39, 42, 55, 67 and 68, police said in a statement.
"At this time, we believe all victims are known to each other, and there is no outstanding suspect or ongoing threat to the community," police spokesperson Andrew Ford said in the statement. "While our investigation is still in its preliminary stages, we suspect that one of the victims may be the possible shooter."
Police Chief Joe Sullivan told KSN that officers have a "strong direction" on which victim was the shooter but that it is too early to say that officially.
