The Kansas City Chiefs' most important catch happened after Sunday's win against the Carolina Panthers, when defensive lineman Tershawn Wharton saved a young fan who fell from the stands.

The moment Wharton caught the child was captured on video. It shows the little boy reaching from a lower level stand at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, toward players walking off the field when he suddenly falls forward.

Wharton told The Pat McAfee Show that it was a "natural reaction" to catch the child.

"Usually when I leave the game, I try to throw my gloves in the crowd and I think I heard my name a little bit and when I heard my name I seen him coming down," he said. "It was two security guards right there. I don't think they realized what I was doing."

The video shows Wharton, 26, lift the child back up into the stands.

"I kind of grabbed him right by the back of his back and kind of pushed him into the stands a little bit more," he said.

He said he hopes to connect with the child and invite him to another Chiefs game.
