A woman was found dead at Chicago O’Hare International Airport early Thursday after a person was reported trapped in machinery, officials said.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m., the woman was discovered “unresponsive and was pronounced on scene” in the 0-100 block of West Terminal Street, police said in a short statement.
The area is near Terminal 5, which serves international carriers.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday ruled the woman died by suicide.
NBC Chicago reported that the Chicago Fire Department responded to reports of a person trapped in machinery at Terminal 5.
Neither the fire department nor anyone with the airport could immediately be reached by NBC News for comment Thursday afternoon.
