If
the Beacon Tower’s stunning 360-degree views don’t
sell you, the post-modern Dumbo location and cool finishes
are sure to. All this and more will await all comers to the
23-story tower now rising at 85 Adams Street, three blocks
from the waterfront.
“We’re the tallest building in Dumbo, we’re
on a hill and the windows are very large, so the views will
be that much greater,” says Jay Schippers, senior vice-president
of development with Corcoran in Brooklyn. “There’s
great night life, you’re a block from the shops on Front
Street, the subways are close by - what more could you ask?”
Corcoran is asking $530,000 and up for its 1, 2 and 3BRs,
and $2.4 million for the penthouse. The spa-sleek apartments
will have Rift oak cabinets, stone composite countertops,
Bosch appliances, Kohler sinks and faucets, and Zuma bathtubs.
A Zenlike courtyard garden (with teahouse) will bring a sense
of sanctuary to this happening corner of Brooklyn.

COURTLY
DIGS
Brooklyn
living has reached a new peak in luxury at the Court House,
a 320-unit rental building in the heart of trendy downtown
Brooklyn, on the cusp of Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights and
Cobble Hill.
Everything you need is either within the 24-hour full-service
building, or a holler away. All the apartments - priced from
$1660 to $4500 a month - have 9ft soundproof ceilings, solid
red-oak floors, designer kitchens and high-speed internet
access. Close by are a 12-screen cinema, stylish Smith Street
restaurants, a Barnes & Noble, popular Montague Street
boutiques and multiple subway lines. Residents get automatic
membership in an on-site YMCA. Another lure is the building’s
500-car garage.
“We have a lot of young people, both singles and couples,
who like the idea of moving into a fresh new building with
all the amenities imaginable,” says Jed Walentas, a
principal of Two Trees Management, the Court’s developers.
“For the first time, you have Manhattan-style luxury
and service in Brooklyn.”

ONWARD
AND UPWARD IN WILLIAMSBURG
Fresh
from selling out its gleaming South Tower, Schaefer Landing
is polishing off the (even taller) 25-story North Tower on the
spectacular Williamsburg waterfront, opposite lower Manhattan.
Fronted by the lush Riverfront Esplanade, the North Tower includes
135 smartly appointed 1 to 3BR condominiums (with a high ratio
of 2BRs), priced from $400,000 to $2 million.
“People who see Schaefer Landing for the first time are
reaching for superlatives,” says Karen Mansour, director
of sales and marketing for Prudential Douglas Elliman. “On
top of the luxury, the closeness of hip Williamsburg and the
views of the Manhattan skyline, there’s the convenience
of the New York Water Taxi, which gets you to Midtown in seven
minutes.”
Residents can avail themselves of The Club at Schaefer Landing
with its fitness center, riverfront lounge, business center
and children’s playroom…not to mention library,
roof deck terrace, lush courtyard, underground parking and private
access to the Esplanade.

“We’re
suddenly seeing a run on wood-frame houses in the South Slope, which
people rejected only eight to ten years ago,” says Roslyn B.
Huebener, principal broker for Aguayo & Huebener. “They’re
restoring the houses and painting them lovely offbeat colors - a little
bit of San Francisco.” Furthering this point, she adds, “Other
once-overlooked areas that are now highly sought-after are Ditmas
Park and Fort Greene-Clinton Hill.” |
