BAY
WATCH
While the Hamptons
have become synonymous with celebrity sightings and all things chic,
there will always be the tranquil, get-away-from-it-all Hamptons—as
epitomized by this spectacular waterfront sanctuary on Mecox Bay
in Water Mill. The contemporary-style home was designed in the 1970s
by Joe Bahri, an apprentice of Philip Johnson. It features a sunken
living room with 30ft ceilings and a dining room with waterfront
views; an office and paneled library can easily be transformed into
a bedroom suite. The master BR encompasses the entire second floor,
with magnificent water views from the terrace. “This isn’t
a party house,” says Elliot Epstein of Sotheby’s International
Realty. “It’s for the couple or family who really want
to have their privacy—it’s on one of the most beautiful,
quiet blocks in the Hamptons.” Lush landscaping and an octagonal
gunite pool add to the serene setting. The separate pool suite designed
by Francis Fleetwood is an added luxury. $6.9 million.
