THE NEW LOOK OF GREEN

The “greening” of lower Manhattan will soon include Riverhouse, an environmentally friendly condominium tower that is the collaboration between Ismael Leyva Architects and Tolshek Partnership Architects and designer David Rockwell. It’s being constructed with the kind of materials and recycling technologies that will allow it to be billed as one of the “greenest” condos in New York City.

It will also have some of the best views. Situated near Battery Park City, Riverhouse overlooks New York Harbor towards the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. More than 80 percent of the homes will have river views. One–bedroom apartments start at $800,000; 2–, 3–, and 4–bedroom homes are also available.

“The off–the–water market can be very cyclical,” says David Chernov, director of sales for Trump Las Olas Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale. “But waterfront property keeps rising at a steady rate. If someone is selling a waterfront home, chances are they are not worried about what the rest of the market is doing.”
