Louisiana President Results 2024
Donald Trump has won the Louisiana contest, NBC News projects, and secured the state’s eight Electoral College votes. The conservative state voted to back Trump in the last two elections. In 2020, Trump won Louisiana with 59% of the vote to Biden’s 40%. In 2016, Trump won Louisiana with 58% to Hillary Clinton’s 38%. Louisiana has consistently supported the Republican candidate in presidential elections, diverging in recent memory only to back Democrat Bill Clinton in both 1992 and 1996. The state has also voted for third-party candidates twice: George Wallace in 1968 and Strom Thurmond in 1948, both segregationists.

NBC News isn’t showing a breakdown by type of vote in Louisiana. Some states and some individual counties provide results broken down by the type of ballot cast, which can include Election Day votes, or those cast early, either in person or by mail. That information isn’t widely available in Louisiana.
The expected vote is the total number of votes that are expected in a given race once all votes are counted. This number is an estimate and is based on several different factors, including information on the number of votes cast early as well as information provided to our vote reporters on Election Day from county election officials. The figure can change as NBC News gathers new information.
