Taylor Swift's Pop-Tarts are back in the spotlight after Travis Kelce gushed over them during Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday.
Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, was asked at the media event in New Orleans to name the best dish his pop star girlfriend has cooked for him.
“She is quite the cook," Kelce said. "I’m a breakfast guy. Man, her Pop-Tarts are unbelievable. Homemade Pop-Tarts — unbelievable.”
Kelce and his teammates are in town gearing up for their Super Bowl showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Chiefs hope to earn some of Swift's coveted victory Pop-Tarts at Sunday's title game. Her homemade treats seem to have become a post-win tradition for the Chiefs. Defensive backs coach David Merritt gave Swift a shoutout after he received a box of them after a 30-27 win against the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 24.
It is not the first time that Swift's Pop-Tarts have made waves. After the Chiefs won last year's Super Bowl, head coach Andy Reid complained that he was denied one of the famed pastries after his offensive lineman ate all of them, Sports Illustrated reported. In March, Pop-Tarts reached out to Swift in an Instagram post and a full page ad in the Kansas City Star newspaper, playfully urging her to release the recipe.
"To KC’s most famous fan, we heard there’s a Pop-Tarts pastry (Your Version) and in its honor, we’re donating to @harvesters, a local Feeding America partner food bank," the post said. "But if you #releasetherecipe, we’ll double our donation 🫶🫶"
Though Swift has yet to release the closely guarded recipe, curious fans have taken it upon themselves to make their own variations.Chiefs representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Taylor's version of the pastry.
