The brain, the athlete, the basket case, the princess and the criminal are reuniting.

The last time they were together they were serving high school detention — this time they'll be giving "Breakfast Club" fans what they've been waiting 40 years for.

Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy and Emilio Estevez — the five stars of the John Hughes coming-of-age classic — are meeting in Chicago, where the film was shot.

Their appearances are part of C2E2, the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, which kicked off Friday and featured signings with some of the cast.

The long-awaited reunion comes decades after a fateful Saturday detention created an unlikely brat pack bond in a film that continues to resonate with fans long after its 1985 premiere.

"It's a real culture unto itself," said Hall, who played nerd Brian Johnson in the film.

One fan said the movie defined his generation. Another said she had "Breakfast Club birthday parties," including one that featured an Estevez cake.

Could the reunion mean that something more is in store for the cast?

Hall said he doesn't know whether a sequel might be in the cards, but it's not off the table, he said.
