Billy Joel announced he will postpone his tour for four months because of a "medical condition" Tuesday.

The legendary rock artist said in a statement on Instagram that he is recovering from a recent surgery and has to "undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors."

“While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first," Joel said. "I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”

Joel did not identify the health issues that have sidelined the tour. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Eight shows have been rescheduled as a result, and all purchased tickets will be valid for the rescheduled shows. The tour is projected to resume at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 5.

Fellow musician Debbie Gibson took to her Instagram story to send well wishes:

"Sending my hero all the best vibes for healing. Health is first."
