The 1975’s lead singer, Matty Healy, is engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel.
Bechtel, 26, announced the exciting news in a post on her Instagram story Tuesday night, sharing a photo of her engagement ring — a stunning large black gem surrounded by pavé diamonds.
“Marrying the 1975 is very brat,” she wrote as a caption, referring to Charli XCX’s latest album, “Brat.” The couple had attended Charli XCX's concert in New York City on Tuesday night, with Bechtel sharing videos of herself dancing at the Brooklyn show.
Healy, 35, reshared her post about the ring on his own Instagram story.
Healy and Bechtel were first linked in September, when they were snapped kissing and holding hands in New York City, People magazine reported. Representatives for Healey did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the engagement.
Healy’s mother, actor Denise Welch, confirmed the couple’s engagement Wednesday morning on the British talk show “Loose Women.”
“I have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged. ... They went over to see their friends Charli and George in New York and I woke up this morning to the fact they’ve put it on Instagram. ... He’s got engaged to Gabriella Bechtel — Gabbriette she’s known as,” she said, People reported.
“Black diamond; he had it made for her,” she continued. “I couldn’t be more thrilled. We couldn’t be happier — she is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law. I’m thrilled.”
Healy was previously linked with model Meredith Mickelson and Taylor Swift, and Bechtel has previously dated Levi Dylan, Bob Dylan's grandson.
