“I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don’t take anything you say personally,” he said after King opened up about their strained relationship.

Actor Rob Schneider said he hopes his daughter Elle King can forgive him after the singer opened up about their strained relationship.

“I just want to tell my daughter Elle, I love you and I wish I was the father in my 20s that you needed, and clearly I wasn’t, and I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings,” he said in a clip of an interview with Tucker Carlson. “I love you completely. I love you entirely. And I just want you to be well and happy with you and your beautiful baby, Lucky.”

The “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer told Bunnie XO on her “Dumb Blonde” podcast that she wasn't very close to her father growing up and when she did have the opportunity to spend time with him, it was on a movie set.

“If I ever messed up a shot, if I was talking, I would get in f---ing trouble,” King said, telling Bunnie XO that she felt like she would get “lost in the shuffle.”

The 35-year-old singer, who welcomed her first child, a son named Lucky, in 2021, said a lot of the tension with her father was because of her weight and appearance.

"I was, like, a really, really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp," she said. "And then I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle and didn’t lose any weight. I had already started getting tattooed, and it was like 108 degrees. So I had to wear sweaters because my dad was very anti-tattoos or any form of self-expression."

King also said on the podcast that she often disagrees with things her father has publicly said about the LGBTQ community.

Schneider told Carlson that he hopes his daughter can "heal from this."

"I wish you the best. I feel terrible, and I just want you to know that I don't take anything you say personally," he said.
