In case all of his recent tweeting about creating a website to rate journalists he doesn’t like made you forget that Elon Musk has a real job — well, two, if you count that side hustle selling flame throwers — a few of his latest tweets are here to remind you. The Tesla CEO wrote on Sunday that an autopilot software update, Tesla Version 9, coming in August would “begin to enable full self-driving features.” Currently, Teslas are only capable of operating in a semi-autonomous mode.
In April, Tesla parted ways — it’s unclear whether the company kicked off the investigation or left of its own volition — with the National Transportation Safety Board amid an investigation into a fatal Tesla Model X crash in March that killed the driver, 38-year-old Walter Huang. Early reports indicate that the vehicle sped up before crashing into the barrier. There was also that report in April about how workers at the Tesla factory in Fremont, California, are in danger of getting hurt because Musk hates the color yellow. Meaning the color yellow isn’t used to demarcate potentially dangerous areas in the factory. (He also reportedly dislikes having too many signs and the beeping noises machines make while moving in reverse.)
