J oseph Carini’s elaborate, handwoven Map Series rugs marry three of the artist’s loves: aerial photography, modern textile art, and New York City geography. All three styles depict the city from above: There’s a nighttime view of Manhattan, a cityscape shot from a satellite, and a fifties-era subway map (here). Each made-to-order rug takes Carini up to four months to complete (from $5,880 for a five-by-seven-footer at Carini Lang, 335 Greenwich St., nr. Jay St.; 646-613-0497).
