German researchers have enabled mice paralyzed after spinal cord injuries to walk again, re-establishing a neural link hitherto considered irreparable in mammals by using a designer protein injected into the brain.

Security was heavy at state Capitols across the country Wednesday in the wake of the deadly Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol, but no large-scale protests were reported.

Guatemala

An estimated 8,000 Hondurans sought to flee this week in a mass caravan hoping to reach the United States. But regional governments, including Honduras, organized a coordinated military operation to repel the caravan.
Honduras is reeling from two back-to-back hurricanes that devastated Central America in November, as well as a historic economic contraction on the back of coronavirus pandemic.


New York City
A bus which careened off a road in the Bronx is left dangling from an overpass on Jan. 15.
The incident occurred after the driver was "unable to navigate the roadway" on the Cross Bronx Expressway, a New York Police Department spokesperson told NBC New York.
Eight people were injured.

The Capitol

He was arrested on arrival and now sits in Moscow’s most notorious detention facility awaiting a trial that could see him jailed for years, under guard by the same regime he says tried to kill him with a Soviet-era nerve agent.

Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and the former first ladies wait for President Joe Biden at Arlington National Cemetery on Jan. 20.
