Whale watchers off Sydney's northern beaches missed a humpback's spectacular show because they were looking in another direction as the huge animal launched itself out of the water. Whales migrate north up to Australia's eastern coast between April and August.

Turkish forces attempting to seize commandeered tanks, helicopters and military jets. They shelled the Turkish parliament and attempted to seize control of Istanbul — the country's largest city — and capital, Ankara.
President Tayyip Erdogan quickly called on the public to flood the streets and fight the coup plotters. The Turkish public responded overwhelmingly, with thousands taking on soldiers and tanks across the country. Between 200 and 300 people died in the violence.

Soldiers involved in the failed coup attempt to surrender on Bosphorus Bridge on July 16 in Istanbul. Before the dust from the coup attempt had even settled, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was pledging to purge the armed forces.
"They will pay a heavy price for this," he said. "This uprising is a gift from God to us because this will be a reason to cleanse our army."

Tabakhi died in a Palestinian hospital of a wound inflicted by a projectile that struck his chest and caused heart failure, a ministry spokesman said.
