Oscar Pistorius’ sister Aimee left court in tears Thursday after an alleged confrontation with a self-professed killer who turned up in the public gallery at the Olympic sprinter’s sentencing. Mikey Schultz, who once admitted to murdering a local mining magnate but who escaped jail through a plea bargain, was seen by reporters in court mouthing a threat at Aimee Pistorius. Schultz later denied the accusation to reporters outside the building – and did not return when the court later reconvened.

It was not immediately clear why Schultz attended the sentencing hearing, which will decide whether Oscar Pistorius will go to prison for fatally shooting his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Schultz is a friend of Mark Batchelor, a former footballer with whom Pistorius once had an altercation. Final arguments will be presented to the hearing Friday, after which Judge Thokozile Masipa will retire to consider her judgment. She is expected to announce the sentence on Tuesday.
