For this week’s Don’t Dilly Dally we amassed some fall-appropriate finds, and a few particularly giftable items worth storing for the holiday season, including a fancy bottle of wine designed by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, and a patchwork apron created in collaboration with Dolly Parton.
Minted x the Met Holiday Cards
Minted is reimagining classic art from the Met in holiday-card form. Money from every purchase will go toward the artist, and also to the museum. We like this one in particular, designed by artist Brandy Brown, which riffs on Nicolás Enriquez’s 18th-century painting The Virgin Guadalupe With Four Apparitions and depicts her with layered necklaces, a flower crown, and brown skin.
Sean John x Missguided
Iconic early aughts brand Sean John has teamed up with Missguided for their first womenswear collection, which features logoed tees, velour two-piece sets and bandana print dresses and sweats. This cozy navy sweatshirt seems perfect for fall and winter around-the-house wear.
Madewell x Kule
Madewell’s latest collaboration is with New York–based, French-inspired Kule, a company that happens to make some of our favorite striped tees. There are lots of on-sale, fall-ish picks (a leopard print sweater! A rugby top!) to choose from but if we had to choose a favorite, it might be this cozy, classic-looking sherpa-lined jean jacket.
William Sonoma x Dolly Parton
Following an appliance collaboration with cooking collective Ghetto Gastro, William Sonoma has teamed up with Dolly Parton on bakeware. The line includes a Christmas-y potholder, a prebuilt cookie cabin inspired by her childhood home in Tennessee, and a patchwork apron, which is made of sturdy cotton twill and has pockets big enough to hold tools and recipes both.
Persol x Stone Island
From Italian brands Persol and Stone Island comes a new take on Persol’s classic PO2470S sunglasses, which are somewhere between a classic aviator and a wayfarer. Some special features include hand-brushed, exposed screws, and blue, polarized lenses.
APC x Catherine Deneuve
For this deeply French collaboration, Catherine Deneuve and A.P.C. created a simple-but-lovely, 20-piece collection that includes tailored pants, jackets, and a particularly cozy-looking, wearable sweater, made out of Japanese yarn, with a wide crew neckline, and four buttons on the shoulder. It’s ribbed, and comes in two colors; we’re partial to the ecru (though the navy is also nice).
Save Our Stages x The FADER
Music venues have been hit particularly hard by COVID-19. This shirt, created in partnership with The Fader, is the first in the brand’s Save Our Stages capsule collection. Each features the name of one of nine iconic music venues around NYC, like The Sultan Room and S.O.B’s. Profits from the shirt will be split amongst said nine venues in attempts to provide some much needed financial relief.
Carhartt x Guinness
In case you want to wear your beer preference on a well-made, workwear-quality tee, Guinness and Carhartt have teamed up to create this heavyweight cotton shirt, which has a rib-knit crewneck, and, crucially, a tagless neck label.
Veuve Clicquot x Yayoi Kusama
Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama has lent her signature polka dots to Veuve Clicquot’s new vintage: La Grand Dame 2012. The pinot noir, which has a fruity, floral, and slightly nutty flavor, is inspired by Madame Clicquot herself (who was nicknamed La Grand Dame). And while we’re sure the wine is good, the box and the bottle itself are verifiable objets d’art: Kusama’s designed them specifically for this project. It’s currently available for preorder on the brand’s site and shipping in early October.
Kara Hamilton Melting Liberty Pin
For some genuinely nice-looking, non-cheesy vote merch, try these handmade, brass pendants and pins from Canadian artist Kara Hamilton, which are created using salvaged metal and wax molds. This one depicts a Statue of Liberty melting onto the word “vote” — there’s also a house on fire with the word “vote” inside, if the former happens to sell out.
