For this week’s Don’t DillyDally, we’ve surfaced a range of items we’re sure will sell out, including a candle from Harlem Candle Co. to celebrate the Met’s new Afrofuturist period room, Herman Miller’s rereleased vintage posters, and a varsity jacket co-created by Tommy Hilfiger and Timberland.
The Met x Harlem Candle Co.
To celebrate the Met’s exhibition “Before Yesterday We Could Fly: An Afrofuturist Period Room,” the museum collaborated with Harlem Candle Co. on a limited-edition candle. The candle, called Seneca, imagines a world in which Seneca Village — a historically Black village that was destroyed to make way for Central Park — still exists and thrives. Apparently, a modern-day Seneca Village smells like spiced black tea. It’s also mixed with the scents of present-day Central Park, which has notes of wild thyme and cedarleaf, and finishes off with the scent of incense, clove, birch, vetiver, and powdery concrete. The exhibition opens on November 5, but the candle is currently available to purchase — which you can burn while you wait.
Herman Miller Vintage Poster Collection
Herman Miller has resurfaced some of its archival posters — which have become vintage collectibles in their own right — in a 15-piece collection that spans work created from 1949–1979. Offerings include this piece designed by Armin Hofmann in 1962, which turns the Herman Miller chair into an abstract yet recognizable piece of art.
Black Owned Everything x Nordstrom x Nike
Zerina Akers, of Beyoncé Black Is King fame, is partnering with Nordstrom x Nike on a Black-owned marketplace that’s currently available to shop on-site. The curated collection includes designs from William Okpo, Brandon Blackwood, Sammy B, and L’Enchanteur. There’s lots to choose from — like striking green faux-leather headbands, silky shackets, and a few variations of Brandon Blackwood’s ubiquitous trunk bag. This fuzzy pink shearling one is particularly fun and ships starting November 9.
YanYan x Nordstrom SPACE
Nordstrom SPACE also rolled out an exclusive kids’ collection with Beijing-based YanYan, a brand that’s known for its whimsical and comfy approach to knitwear. These checkered pants are a standout, featuring handmade ribbon followers and contrasting yellow and blue thread, and made from Scottish lambswool.
Anna Sui x Knix
Knix, makers of ultracomfy underwear and wireless bras, recently collaborated with print-forward designer Anna Sui. The result is the brand’s iconic florals applied to bras, panties, and sleepwear. The LuxeLift Pullover Bra — which came recommended as a solid wireless option for people with large breasts — now comes in four limited-edition patterns. That includes this black-and-blue floral, inspired by an Anna Sui print from 1995. And if you’d like to make it a set, you can grab the underwear (available in a range of cuts) too.
Osea x Parachute
Parachute and clean skin-care brand Osea have teamed up again. This time, the two have released a shower mist that’s meant to bring the spa to your shower. There are two scents available — “calm” and “energize” — which smell of ginger, lime, and orange, and Bulgarian lavender, respectively. You can buy each one separately or purchase the duo, which lets you trial out the two scents for less than the price of a full-size bottle.
Kind Science Skincare launch
Also on the skin-care front, Ellen DeGeneres has launched her skin-care line Kind Science, which focuses on “positive aging.” Offerings include wrinkle-reducing serums and creams, along with exfoliants and cleansers to brighten and tone the skin. The Firm and Hydrate duo (which includes the hydration cream and firming serum) is already sold out, but other sets — like this Polish+Lift+Brighten trio — are still available to buy.
American Girl x Stoney Clover
Stoney Clover, which makes Nicky Hilton’s favorite monogrammable bags, recently released a collection with American Girl. The collection includes pouches and bags inspired by patterns from the original dolls’ outfits. These would make great gifts for the former American Girl obsessive in your life or the newly indoctrinated. But things are going quickly. Some dolls’ collections — like Kit and Felicity — are completely sold out. But there are a few things, mostly Addy- and Josefina-related, that are still in stock. It’s likely these will also go quickly, so if you see something you like — don’t dillydally.
Joonbug x Baggu
In more bag news, Baggu has teamed up with L.A.–based artist Joonbug on two totes, which feature two original prints — Solo Skate and Group Skate — inspired by four-wheeled skate culture from the ’60s and ’70s. Either, we think, would make a worthy lunch bag or gift.
Tommy Hilfiger x Timberland
Tommy Hilfiger and Timberland have come together on a co-branded collection just in time for cooling temperatures. There’s Tommy-logoed Timbs, co-logoed tees, and a bright-yellow pullover that feels like a vintage find. The star of the collection, though, is this reversible varsity jacket, which is inspired by pieces from the Tommy Hilfiger archive.
