15 Things That’ll Almost Definitely Sell Out: From Great Jones to Glossier

For this week’s Don’t DillyDally, we’ve surfaced a range of new things we’re sure will sell out, including Glossier’s hot-cocoa-flavored lip balm, Great Jones’s four-in-one steamer, and Floyd’s modular (and colorful) dresser system.

Glossier’s already sweet-smelling lip balm now comes in “Swiss Miss,” an “homage” to the famed hot-cocoa label. This limited-edition version of Balm Dotcom features hints of cocoa, vanilla, and sugar strands. Once on, it’s supposed to give your pout a sheer chestnut-brown hue; it’s also a delicious way to keep dry lips from chapping.

If you haven’t heard, J.Crew is back — and just launched a limited-edition collaboration with Beams Plus, a Tokyo-based retailer that takes inspiration from Americana style. (Director Mike Mills was tapped as the face of the line, with a very New York photo shoot to boot.) The collection reminds us of vintage J.Crew with corduroy patches and nautical stripes. But our favorite piece has to be this statement-making, shaggy Argyle cardigan made of 100 percent wool.

Speaking of wool, Buck Mason has introduced a new loungewear line featuring the fabric in a neutral oat hue. The three-piece line includes sweatpants that you can match with either a cropped hoodie or crewneck sweatshirt. The Los Angeles–based apparel brand (which also makes our favorite white T-shirt) promises the wool won’t be itchy, as the new pieces are made from a blend of soft merino wool and cotton.

In hypebeast news, the second collaboration between French shoe label Veja and Italian luxury house Marni is live. The collection includes “chromatic interpretations” of Veja’s classic V-15 and V-10 styles, the latter of which is a favorite of Strategist staffers and sneakerheads. The shoes are covered in Sharpie-esque scribbles in shades of blue, purple, and teal, giving them a very punkish vibe.

These days, you’re more likely to see one of L.L.Bean’s preppy Boat and Totes plastered with an insult than an initial. And the storied Maine retailer is now officially in on the joke, having partnered with Grace Wiener of @ironicboatandtote to create its Ironic Monogram Collection. New phrases on the iconic bags include “not not designer” and “leave me alone.” Cheeky embroidered robes and throws are also part of the collection (and would make excellent gifts, too).

J. Hannah x The Met Tudors Polish Set

J. Hannah, or the “nail polish brand for people who hate color” as our sister site the Cut describes the status-y label, debuted its latest lacquers made in collaboration with the Met.
The Tudors-themed set is meant to celebrate the museum’s newest exhibition on the dynasty’s reign over Renaissance England. And you can definitely see the influence — the trio of colors (called “Bijoux,” “Relic,” and “Velour”) is cheerful compared to some other polishes from the company (which have names like “Compost” and “Marzipan”).

Hero Cosmetics Pimple Correct

The beauty space gained another pimple-corrector competitor this week. Hero Cosmetics, whose Mighty Patches are a favorite of Strategist beauty contributor Rio Viera-Newton, came out with a gel pen designed to fight both early-stage blemishes and the stubborn ones that just won’t go away. The spot treatment features tried-and-true salicylic acid, along with lactic and azelaic acids to help exfoliate and brighten.

Great Jones Full Steam Duo

Great Jones — maker of one of our favorite sheet pans — has released its Full Steam Duo, a pair of colorful silicone multitaskers that can function as colanders, splatter guards, and trivets. The larger of the two is designed to fit inside of the brand’s Big Deal stock pot and Deep Cut sauté pan, while the smaller works with the Dutch Baby, Small Fry, and Saucy. The set (which you can buy in two colorways: blueberry and raspberry or broccoli and mustard) is currently only available for preorder — with plans to ship in November — so get it while it’s hot.

Omsom the ‘IYKYK’ Shaker Set

Also for foodies: AAPI-owned Omsom, which is known for its gourmand-approved spices, dropped a limited-edition shaker set. The “IYKYK” trio is a reimagining of classic tabletop staples that include salt sourced from South Korea, pepper sourced from Vietnam, and MSG produced by Japanese seasoning company Ajinomoto.

Pat Kim x Areaware Wall Clocks

Noting the passage of time just became a little more playful. Brooklyn-based homeware brand Areaware partnered with designer Pat Kim on a series of Memphis-minded wall clocks that come in either mint, pink, or yellow. The hours are depicted by three-dimensional shapes including a sphere, cylinder, cube, and bell. And the clocks’ hands are squiggly, too.

Floyd, the company known for its flat-pack sofa, bed, and shelving, has added a Dresser System to its collection. The modular design was influenced by the architecture of Mies van der Rohe’s Lafayette Park, boasting clean and geometric lines. You can choose between different bases, mix and match drawers, doors, and shelves, and add on expansion units.

Otherland’s new slate of seasonal candles has arrived. The six new scents come in jewel-toned jars, with the collection aptly named Adorned. Scents include “Alpine Crystal,” with notes of juniper sprig and lemon fizz, and “Dessert First,” featuring gingersnap, black cardamom, and milky tea. Each candle is $36, or you could buy all of them for $165 and save a few bucks.

Here at the Strategist, we’re fans of Flamingo Estate’s heirloom tomato candle, so we’re especially intrigued by its newest offering. The Euphoria collection includes a body scrub, oil, and lotion, along with a candle described as “a sweet slap to the face.” The scent is layered with notes of Ionian bergamot, rose, pink peppercorn, and white sandalwood.

Away’s stylish (and jet-setter-approved) suitcases have gotten a ’90s-era makeover for the brand’s latest limited-edition collection, ’90s Pop. Now you can get the brand’s carry-ons in a trippy swirl print or a shade of bubblegum pink that you won’t be able to miss at baggage claim, and match them with a coordinating sling bag and travel pouch.

On the splurgier side of the luggage spectrum, Tumi’s latest collaboration with automotive maker McLaren has a much more understated vibe — and features F1 driver Lando Norris as part of the ad campaign. Made from Tumi’s carbon-fiber CX6 material (which is designed to be especially durable, and is also used in McLaren supercars), this handsome suitcase comes with a built-in combination TSA lock and USB port.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
