Holiday weekends are one of the best times to get a new mattress, as nearly every major mattress company has a sale right now. I’ve been writing about mattresses and sleep for about three years, and I’ve found that on top of lowering their prices, a lot of brands will throw in bundles of free accessories — think pillows, sheets, and mattress protectors — with any mattress purchase.
Below, I’ve rounded up this year’s best Memorial Day mattress sales, listed alphabetically by retailer. A lot of these sales have been running for a week or two now, and for the most part, they’ve remained the same. So if you’ve been waiting to shop in hopes the deals would get even better, you’ll want to buy today, because these discounts are as good as they’ll get. It’s also the last chance for the hundreds of other Memorial Day sales going on right now, so if you want to shop for anything else — home décor, clothes, kitchen tools, or more — check out our roundup of all the best last-chance Memorial Day sales.
[Editor’s Note: All mattress prices are for a queen size unless otherwise noted.]
Amazon
At Amazon, I found a Serta Perfect Sleeper (that isn’t currently on sale on Serta’s website) for 15 percent off and the Casper Original Hybrid (not currently discounted on Casper’s website) for 20 percent off. I also found my favorite mattress topper, the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt, for 30 percent off, as well as another one of my favorite toppers, the ViscoSoft Select High Density mattress topper, for 15 percent off. There are also good deals on some of our top pillows.
Amerisleep
Amerisleep makes three different all-foam mattresses with its Bio-Pur foam, a memory-foam alternative that’s meant to be more breathable and responsive. The brand is offering $450 off any mattress with the code AS450, as well as running a few sales on other products. You’ll get 30 percent off when you purchase a adjustable-base bundle — and Amerisleep just so happens to make our favorite adjustable bed base.
Avocado
Avocado specializes in making mattresses with all-natural, nontoxic materials. The brand rarely offers more than 10 percent off, but right now, you can get up to 20 percent off its mattresses, no code needed. We’re fans of the Avocado Green Pillowtop and the Avocado Eco Organic mattresses, both of which use a combo of latex and coils in their construction. Avocado is also offering up to 10 percent off bedding and other products (we recommend its pillows and toppers too).
Awara
Like Avocado, Awara is dedicated to building mattresses with natural materials. It doesn’t have quite as many models as Avocado, but all three of their beds are good latex-hybrid options. They’re also among the more affordable latex hybrids I’ve seen (latex tends to be pricier than memory foam). For Memorial Day, you can get up to 50 percent off Awara mattresses.
Bear
Bear is giving Strategist readers an exclusive deal: 40 percent off sitewide with the code STRAT40 through May 28. And with every mattress purchase, Bear will throw in a free bundle of two pillows, a sheet set, and a mattress protector. The all-foam Bear Original mattress was first designed to promote athletic recovery using the performance fabric Celliant, but the brand has since expanded to include more luxe options like the Bear Star Hybrid and Bear Elite Hybrid.
Brentwood Home
Brentwood Home manufactures the majority of its products in California with a bent toward natural materials and ecofriendly processes. For Memorial Day, it is offering 10 percent off sitewide, plus up to 60 percent off final-sale items — no code needed.
Brooklyn Bedding
You can take 30 percent off sitewide at Brooklyn Bedding with the code STRAT30. This brand offers something for everyone — from the cooling and plush Aurora Luxe, which former Strategist writer Latifah Miles described as “hotel quality,” to the Plank, one of our favorite firm mattresses. I generally find that Brooklyn Bedding’s beds offer great quality for the price, so all the better to get one at a discount. The sale ends on May 27.
Birch by Helix
Use the code STRAT25 for 25 percent off sitewide at Birch, another mattress-and-bedding brand that specializes in natural products. And if you purchase a mattress, the company will throw in two free Birch Eco-Rest pillows — plush down-alternatives filled with recycled PET (a.k.a. plastic bottles). Birch offers two mattresses, the Birch Natural and a Luxe version, as well as a kids’ mattress. Former Strategist editor Maxine Builder described the Birch Natural as supportive yet plush: “A dream for a stomach sleeper like me, who tosses and turns throughout the night.”
Casper
Casper is offering up to 30 percent off sitewide right now, no code needed. If you’re shopping for a mattress, the Casper Original is our favorite mattress for side sleepers, but the company recently launched a flagship bed called the Casper One, which is discounted for the holiday as well. We also recommend the Casper Original pillow, which Strategist writer Brenley Goertzen evangelizes about to everyone she knows.
Cocoon by Sealy
Mattress juggernaut Sealy’s already affordable bed-in-a-box offerings, the Cocoon Chill (our favorite mattress for back sleepers) and Cocoon Chill Hybrid, will be even further discounted for Memorial Day with a 35 percent off sitewide promotion. With each mattress purchase, Cocoon will add a free bundle that includes a pillow, sheets, and a mattress protector.
DreamCloud
DreamCloud makes three memory-foam mattresses (the Original, the Premier, and the Premier Rest) and recently expanded its offerings to include a hybrid version of each. While each bed is slightly different, I like the quilted cover the brand uses on all its mattresses — it adds a nice bit of plushness. In particular, I think the DreamCloud Original mattress is one of the best bang-for-your-buck mattresses on the market — it’s generally on sale for under $1,000 for a queen size and feels higher quality to me than similarly priced mattresses. And for Memorial Day, the brand is offering up to 50 percent off all mattresses.
Eight Sleep
Eight Sleep’s Pod 4 Ultra is a temperature-regulating mattress cover that sends water through tiny tubes to cool (or heat) your bed to match your exact preferences. The latest generation of the well-reviewed but pricey system is $150 off for Memorial Day — or you can get an older model, the Pod 3, for $100 off.
Emma
German mattress brand Emma is taking 50 percent off all mattresses for Memorial Day — and you can get an additional 5 percent off by signing up for the company’s texts and emails. The Emma is the brand’s flagship all-foam mattress with a slightly firm feel, while the Emma Hybrid Comfort is a foam-and-coils model designed with couples and heavy sleepers in mind. I’ve tried the Hybrid Comfort and it is super-supportive and quite firm. The company’s latest launch is the Emma Hybrid Cooling Elite, which includes a few additional foam layers and cooling features like graphite-infused foam.
Helix
Helix has one of the widest selections of mattresses from any brand on the market divided into three mattress lines: Its Core, Luxe, and Elite lines each consists of six mattresses ranging from ultrasoft to ultrafirm. The Core mattresses are the cheapest and most minimal, while the Elite are the most expensive and extravagant — seriously, they are some of the most luxurious mattresses I’ve seen. For the pricier Luxe and Elite lines, Helix is offering 30 percent off with the code MEMDAY30; for the Core line and other non-mattress products, you get 25 percent off with the discount automatically applied at checkout. The sale runs through May 27.
Layla
For Memorial Day, Layla is taking up to $150 off its memory-foam mattress and $200 off its hybrid mattress, plus it will throw in two free pillows with any mattress purchase. Both of the brand’s mattresses are twofers because they are flippable with a soft and firm side. Strategist writer Tembe Denton-Hurst tested the Layla Hybrid and says that both sides were supportive but she appreciated the option to flip the mattress because she ultimately preferred the plusher soft side. The brand is also running a buy-one-get-one-50-percent-off deal on its adjustable kapok pillows (one of our favorites for side sleepers) and offering discounts on its mattress topper, comforter, and weighted blanket.
Leesa
Besides the Leesa Original, our favorite all-foam mattress, Leesa offers a fairly wide range of mattresses, such as the newer Sapira Chill, Legend Chill, and Reserve Hybrid. I recently had the chance to test these models in a showroom and I particularly liked the Reserve Hybrid — it had just the level of sinky-ness I like for pressure relief, as well as a cool-to-the-touch cover. For Memorial Day, Leesa is offering up to 30 percent off mattresses, plus two free pillows and a sheet set.
Naturepedic
I recently tested Naturepedic’s latex mattress topper and it is quite cozy. The latex is soft and pliant, adding a cushioning — but not enveloping — layer to the top of the bed. Alas, it is pretty spendy, at close to $800 for a queen size. But you can get it for less right now, as Naturepedic is taking 20 percent off sitewide for Memorial Day with the code MEMORIAL20. I haven’t tested any of the brand’s other products yet, but it sells a variety of latex bedding and organic mattresses.
Nectar
The Nectar Original is one of the most popular memory-foam mattresses on the market — it’s currently our top pick for memory foam. It has a classic “hugging” feel, but uses gel infusions to cut down on the heat retention. I also appreciate how affordable the bed is: The queen size is just over $1,000 at full price, and for Memorial Day, it’s 41 percent off. The brand is also offering a variety of similarly deep discounts on the rest of its memory-foam and hybrid mattresses.
Nest Bedding
Nest is another brand that specializes in mattresses and bedding made with natural materials. I’ve tested quite a few of its mattresses over the years and they tend to be really high quality; they’re all also named after birds, which I find charming. For Memorial Day, Nest is taking up to 50 percent off its mattresses — 20 percent off the Quail, Puffin, and Lark; 25 percent off the Sparrow, Owl, and Finch; 30 percent off the Starling; and 50 percent off the Raven. Nest is discounting furniture and bedding by up to 50 percent and is running a buy-one-get-one-free deal on Nest Easy Breather Natural pillows.
Nolah
Take 35 percent off sitewide at Nolah, plus get two free pillows, a sheet set, and mattress protector with each mattress purchase — no code needed. You can also take an extra $50 off, on top of that discount, with the code 50STRAT. Nolah focuses on making the best mattresses for side sleepers, who tend to need a little more cushioning around their joints. I recently tried its best-selling Nolah Evolution mattress in the Luxury Firm model (it also comes in Plush and Firm) and was impressed with the bed’s sturdy edge support and the cozy tufted top layer.
Parachute
Parachute is primarily known for bedding, but the brand does make one mattress: the Parachute Eco, which we named the best innerspring mattress. For Memorial Day, you can get it for 25 percent off as part of Parachute’s sitewide sale, which is 25 percent off everything plus an extra 25 percent off sale items. Other Strategist-approved Parachute goods include the brand’s percale sheet set and duvet cover, down mattress topper (one of my favorite plush toppers), and down pillow (my favorite down pillow). But if you want even more picks, check out our roundup of the best Parachute items on sale for Memorial Day.
PlushBeds
The maker of our favorite latex mattress, PlushBeds is taking up to 50 percent off all bedroom mattresses and throwing in a free bedding bundle with every mattress purchase, so you also get two pillows, a sheet set, and mattress protector. The brand is also offering discounts on toppers, pillows, bedding, and sofa and RV mattresses as well as up to $250 off kids’ mattresses.
Purple
Purple — the brand known for its squishy, flexy purple grid — is mainly offering deals on bundles that include a mattress and a bed base. The discounts are up to $800 off, with the highest discounts on the ultraluxurious Rejuvenate mattresses. But if you want something a little more down-to-earth, you can still get up to $200 off a bundle with the original Purple mattress and a bed base. The brand is also running a sale on some of its bedding and accessories, including 10 percent off the Purple Harmony pillow — my favorite pillow for back sleepers and the primary pillow I sleep on every night.
Saatva
Saatva makes our favorite mattress overall, the Saatva Classic, and for Memorial Day the brand is offering up to $400 off mattresses plus $100 off adjustable bed bases and bed frames with any mattress purchase. I’ve tested several Saatva mattresses and find them to be really high quality, and the company provides free white-glove delivery, meaning it will deliver your new mattress, set it up in your room of choice, and take away your old mattress, too.
Sealy
Longtime mattress-maker Sealy — which has been around since the 1880s — is taking up to$ 300 off mattresses. The Posturepedic is a hybrid that comes in two firmness levels, soft and firm. Sealy is also offering deals on its Posturepedic Plus models: $100 off the Trusted Support, $200 off the Advanced Support, and $300 off the Ultimate Support + Cooling.
Siena
Already a budget-friendly brand, Siena is running an up to 50 percent off deal on mattresses. Choose between the Siena Memory Foam, Essential Memory Foam, and Premier Hybrid mattresses. The latter is the most expensive but still under $1,000 at full price for a queen.
Silk & Snow
Silk & Snow is a Canadian brand offering relatively affordable mattresses — including the Silk & Snow Organic, which is one of the more affordable latex hybrids I’ve seen. For Memorial Day, everything on the Silk & Snow website is up to 20 percent off, and with any mattress purchase you’ll get a free bundle of sheets, a duvet, a mattress protector, and pillows.
Sleep Number
Sleep Number’s adjustable-firmness tech is pricey, making now a good time to buy: The brand is discounting its Sleep Number 360 iLE Limited Edition smart bed by 50 percent for Memorial Day. The bed contains air-filled chambers that inflate or deflate to match your personal “sleep number,” so you can really dial in your desired level of firmness and support.
Stearns & Foster
Another classic mattress brand, Stearns & Foster is taking $200 off its Estate and Studio models, $400 off its Lux Estate models, and $600 off its Lux Hybrid and Reserve models. And if you buy now through May 27, Stearns & Foster will give you a $300 Visa gift card with a mattress purchase — which basically means you can take $300 off the price (as long as you can afford it up front). If you buy during a “long weekend” period of any Thursday through Monday in May, you’ll get a free bedding bundle with your mattress purchase.
Tempur-Pedic
I’m a big fan of Tempur-Pedic’s mattresses — they offer the classic “hugging” feel of memory foam in a way many other beds can’t compete with. But they are expensive, so Memorial Day is a good time to get one on sale. Take 30 percent off the Tempur-Cloud mattress with the code CLOUD30; $200 off the Adapt and ProAdapt mattresses (no code needed); and $300 off the LuxeAdapt, ProBreeze, LuxeBreeze, and ActiveBreeze mattresses (no code needed). Or, if you just want a taste of Tempur-Pedic, use the code TOPPERS40 to take 40 percent off the Tempur-Adapt mattress topper, our favorite mattress topper. If you’re looking to bundle a mattress with an adjustable bed base, you can get the Tempur-Essential mattress and Tempur-Ergo Power Base together for 40 percent off.
Tuft & Needle
Tuft & Needle is one of the original bed-in-a-box brands. For Memorial Day, take 27 percent off the company’s Mint Hybrid mattress, 20 percent off the Original and Mint mattresses, and 20 percent off bedding and pillows. Strategist writers have tested and recommended two Tuft & Needle mattresses — the Original and the Mint. Writer Lauren Ro said she felt “supported and cocooned at the same time” on the Original, while writer Arielle Avila said the Mint was supportive but never too firm on her joints.
Vaya
Vaya is a small brand that makes just two mattresses — one all-foam and one hybrid. You can get either one for $300 off right now with the code VAYA300. The brand is also offering 15 percent off platform beds with the code MD15 to complete your bedroom setup.
WinkBeds
WinkBeds’ flagship mattress, the WinkBed, comes in three firmness levels and a “plus” version, and all sizes are $300 off for Memorial Day. When New York Magazine features editor Katy Schneider tested this mattress, she could sleep comfortably in any sleeping position and ultimately declared that it had converted her into “a firm-mattress person.” The brand makes two other models: the all-foam GravityLux and the latex-hybrid EcoCloud.
Yogasleep
Use the code MDAYBED20 to take 20 percent off all mattresses and bedding at Yogasleep. The brand offers two memory-foam mattresses and a hybrid, as well as a few bedding items, like a pillow and mattress protector.
Zinus
Use the code MEMORIAL20 to take 20 percent off mattresses at Zinus — the maker of our favorite affordable mattress, the Cooling Green Tea Memory Foam. In addition to the Cooling Green Tea, Zinus sells five other very affordable hybrid and memory-foam mattresses. The sale ends on May 27.
Zoma
Another brand targeting athletes, Zoma sells three different mattresses — one all-foam option and two hybrids. It also sells a few pillows, bedding items, and frames. Right now, Zoma is offering $150 off any mattress with the code WIN150, 20 percent off pillows with the code MDPILLOWS, and deals on mattress-and-adjustable-base bundles.
