If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what famous people add to their carts. Not the JAR brooch and Louis XV chair but the hairspray and the electric toothbrush. We asked singer Bryson Tiller — who recently partnered with Dose of Roses on a collectible box to celebrate the five-year anniversary of his album Trap Soul — about the video game, cereal, and anime he can’t live without.
I love video games in general but my favorite video game of all time is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I like all the Grand Theft Autos, though. There’s so many things to do. You kind of just live in a new world and do whatever you want. I loved that as a kid because I’m from Louisville, Kentucky, and I didn’t really get to see much. In GTA, I got to see cities like Los Angeles, Miami, and New York for the first time.
I’ll go hard on one type of cereal for a month, maybe two, and then I’ll switch it up. Right now, it’s Fruity Pebbles. I just bought two boxes, so I’m going to smash those real quick and move on to something new.
This is the one thing I need to have in my studio setup. I can use pretty much any microphone or interface. I don’t even need speakers for the most part because that’s just for playback. These have great clarity. I like to hear everything crisp. I even use them when I game now.
I rewatched it recently. It was actually a big inspiration for my album Anniversary because he knocks everything out in one punch. It’s like he’s on a limitless pill all the time. I really like him.
I like to have physical Polaroids because you never know what could happen with phones or anything digital. Polaroids are around forever, as long as you preserve them. I have a shit ton of them — so I just keep them in a clear box.
My favorite shoe of all time is the Nike Air Mag. Marty McFly wore them in the second movie when he went to the future, and it’s just an iconic moment in sneaker culture. Everybody knows this shoe. Every time I put them on I feel like I’m in the movie. No other shoe can make me feel like that.
I love sci-fi movies because I know I won’t ever get to see the future in that way. I get to live it through movies, so those are my favorite kinds of movies to watch. If I could live in one world it would be Back to the Future. Being able to time-travel is super cool.
I love when artists create things specifically for people to collect, and I plan on doing more things like that for my fans. I love to collect things, like my Iron Giant, so I’m just excited that I finally got to do something like that. These flowers last, like, five years, which is dope.
