We asked 15 famous people to tell us about the one thing they bought when they hit the big time and got their first paychecks — the gift they dreamed of giving themselves one day and finally did. Here, Laura Geller, entrepreneur and founder of Laura Geller Beauty, tells us about her Japanese toilet that’s become a family favorite in the last decade. Find other celebrity splurges here.

After the very first time I sold out on QVC, in 1997, I didn’t really treat myself to anything, because I put every dollar back into the business. But when I sold part of my company in 2012, I bought myself a co-op apartment in Sutton Place, the first apartment I ever owned, and I got the queen of all toilets: the Toto Neorest.

Not only did I want it because it warms your bum, but it is bidet, too, and the toilet cleans itself. I heard about this toilet from my friend Orhan, who is a contractor and had installed a ton of them in a client’s home, and he said he was blown away. When I was about to do construction on my own apartment, he said the most important investment you must make is a Toto toilet. I thought he was crazy, but now I want one in every bathroom.

My son Daniel likes my toilet so much that he doesn’t use his own bathroom that often and comes into mine just to use it. I am considering getting one for our guest room as well, so all my visitors can have a moment of indulgence. It would be a memorable experience to have when they think of my home.
