this thing's incredible

I’ll Be Wearing This $45 Linen Set All Summer

I have reached the stage (and age?) where I’m wearing as much linen as I can when the weather is warm. My go-to has been Everlane, but I did see a friend wearing a very effortless-looking linen set and asked her where she got it. She did the thing so many of us do and sort of sheepishly whispered that it was Target. Listen, when Target gets it right, it gets it right, what can you do? And it got this set right.

I have the button-down long-sleeved shirts and pull-on shorts in white and khaki and they’re so affordable and effortless for the summer.

They remind me of the uniforms of the watchmen in housing complexes in Delhi with their fishermen sandals added on, so I may need to add this pair to the look.

For now, I wear them with sneakers or dress them up with wedges.

They’re flattering, quite a soft material (especially after a few washes), machine washable, and don’t seem to need ironing (I always hang dry linen, though). I took both sets on vacation recently and mixed and matched the tops and bottoms to have enough outfits for a few days. I prefer not to think too much about what I’m wearing. And I tend to wear the same or similar clothes throughout an entire season, and these are serving me well for the summer. Both the shorts and the shirt run a bit large, but I would recommend buying your usual size because nobody wants fitted linen.

Target also sells the same colors in a short-sleeved shirt, which may be better as the temperatures rise, but I found the cut a bit too short and boxy for me — it may work worn open with a tank top underneath.
