For a winter jacket that’ll look good, last forever, and actually keep the cold out, look no further than the North Face Nuptse. It’s a ’90s classic that has basically never gone out of style — just ask New York deputy editor Alexis Swerdloff, who has been wearing the same Nuptse on and off since her mom purchased it for her when she was 13 years old. Twenty-eight years later, it looks the same as it did when they picked it out together at Paragon.
The (normally rather expensive) Nuptse is currently 30 percent off at Shopbop in Swerdloff’s classic all-black colorway, and the design hasn’t changed. It’s a water-repellent nylon jacket packed with puffy goose down (experts have told me that down lasts much longer and is also slightly warmer than synthetic fill), and it features a hood that can be tucked away when not in use for a cleaner look. The sleeves have cuffs, and there are two big zip pockets for shoving your hands into on chilly days. Shopbop’s sale ends on Thursday, so act quickly to make sure you’ll stay warm (while looking cool) for the next three decades.
And a few more Nuptse designs we spotted on sale …
