Stand your ground laws are a license to kill and a threat to the most vulnerable

The fatal shooting of Markeis McGlockton, the 28-year-old father of three killed in a Florida parking lot, has reignited debate over the state’s “stand your ground” law, which allows people to use lethal force in self-defense. But Harvard lecturer Caroline Light says these laws aren’t about defense at all.
