RESTAURANTS AND PARTY SPACE

The Altman Building

A former 1896 carriage house, this landmark building boasts vaulted brick ceilings and original mahogany French doors. The 10,000-square-foot ground floor can accommodate up to 500 for a seated dinner and dancing or 750 for a reception, and the staff can help with event planning and design, including prop rentals, catering, and entertainment. Space rental for weddings starts at $13,500.

A Private Penthouse Affair

Located on the top floor of a historic building near Union Square, this bright, 8,000-square-foot space can hold up to 200 seated guests (with dancing). Twelve-foot-wide arched Palladian windows yield views that stretch from Wall Street to Times Square, and a stained-glass and oak-paneled bar completes the effect. From $120 to $160 per person for in-house catering, and $2,900 to $6,000 for space rental.

Bathhouse Studios

Built in 1904, this former public bathhouse has been transformed into a sleek industrial studio with exposed-brick walls and soaring 20-foot ceilings. Packages include Studio A (4,000 square feet, with a state-of-the-art sound system) and Studio B (2,000 square feet, with a full kitchen) for 12 hours. There’s also a 2,500-square-foot roof that boasts trees and romantic lighting. Space rental starts at $6,500. ? (good value)

The Bell House

Originally a 1920s printing factory, this space holds up to 140 people for dinner and dancing, and has a 25-foot arched wood ceiling and a 450-square-foot stage that is ideal for live bands. For a more intimate feel, the front lounge, featuring Victorian-style décor with a 26-foot oak bar, can serve up to 150 people for cocktails. Prices vary by day; from $15,000 for a Saturday-evening rental that includes an open bar.

Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture

Located across from Prospect Park, this over-a- century-old Brooklyn landmark offers four different spaces, including a wood-paneled library and a garden room. The grand parlor, with its stunning Tiffany windows, can seat up to 85 with a dance floor; the garden accommodates ceremonies and seated meals for up to 150 guests. Rental fees are $900 an hour on Saturdays (for a minimum of four hours), catering not included.

Brooklyn Winery

Charm your guests and throw a rollicking party at this intimate locale, whose atrium is an ideal ceremony spot with its glass ceiling and wall of hanging succulents. In the adjoining Harvest Room, wooden banquet tables, mix-and-match china, and an abundance of candles create a warm ambience. Cocktails and dancing happen at the wine bar, and the Parlor Room can be used as a bridal suite. Catering is in-house; from $265 per person (minimum 100 guests; maximum 160).

Bryant Park Grill

This restaurant’s dining room features windows overlooking the park; there’s also a garden space that is tented and heated in the winter and can be used for the ceremony and cocktails. The venue accommodates up to 175 guests indoors for a seated dinner with dancing. From $150 per person.

Capitale

Designed by Stanford White in 1893, the original Bowery Savings Bank embodies all the grandeur of the Romanesque revival, complete with 65-foot ceilings, Corinthian columns, and marble mosaic floors. The 15,000-square-foot ballroom, which features a coved ceiling and glass skylight, can hold up to 750 guests for dinner or 1,500 for cocktails. From $300 per person.

Cipriani Wall Street

With Ionic columns on the outside and Corinthian ones within, this Greek Revival building offers an ideal space (over 16,000 square feet) for couples who think big. The venue handles between 200 and 650 guests for a seated dinner and 1,800 for a cocktail reception; Cipriani takes care of the catering. The company also has two other locations in Manhattan.
