Ryan Gosling’s Sunglasses Are Great for Running, Too

On a recent scroll of my Twitter feed, I spotted Ryan Gosling enjoying his time at the Olympics. The items getting the most attention might be his Olympic-themed hats, which have the same agnostic sports energy as Rob Lowe’s NFL hat, but I was more interested in his sunglasses, which I identified as Article One’s Avalon shades — the same pair that I run in.

They’ve got a stylish, chunky frame, but they’re actually great for being active in, too. I’ve been wearing Article One sunglasses since 2018, and what makes them great is their nose pads, which are wide and soft and don’t pinch. (They’re also one of my favorite gifts for runners.)

I’ve run in other Article One frames, such as the Moons and the Hoffmans (both models worn by U.S. Olympian Nikki Hiltz), but the ones I wear most often are the Avalons, both for running and for every other time I’m in the sun. The Avalons are on the heavier side, so if I’m sweating a ton or on extra humid days, I notice that they slip a little bit. But otherwise, I find that they’re grippy and will work for lots of sweaty activities, like Olympics spectating.
