In our semi-regular advice column, “Ask the Strategist,” we answer your most burning shopping questions by surveying friends, calling up experts, and drawing on our own personal experience. For this edition, we’re going live (or rather, live-ish). On Friday, October 4, our beauty writers Crystal Martin and Rachael Griffiths are going to be answering your questions live in the comments. All you have to do is ask.

Rachael’s specialities are skin care at all ages — she’s written guides to skin care for teens, tweens, 20-somethings, 30-somethings, and more. She is also our pimple-patch tester in chief. Crystal’s specialities are actives — she wrote about doubling up on retinoids — as well as dozens of other topics (she’s been a beauty editor for 15 years). Drop your comments below, and Rachael and Crystal will reply from 11 to 1 p.m. ET on Friday. If you’ve never commented on the site before, here’s how: If you have a New York Magazine account, then log in and you’re all set. If not, you can create a new account (it’s free!) using the “Sign in” link in the comments section. You can also log in with Google or Facebook. See you below the line!

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
